The announcement relates to the effects of the decision of the European Court in the well-known case of Vnuk as long ago as September 2014. Superficially, one might wonder why it is necessary for something to be ‘scrapped’ when it has not been implemented in the first place. However, the matter deserves closer examination than merely poking fun at the somewhat misleading headline. Further, watching the published YouTube video does not reveal any more of the detail or the government’s exact intentions.
