Forum of Insurance Lawyers
Who are we?
The Forum of Insurance Lawyers (FOIL) is the professional membership organisation representing those engaged in the defence of insurance-related claims. Our members act for insurers, self-insured companies and all authorities in the public and private sectors.
Mission
FOIL is dedicated to:
- Promoting best-practice in the defence of claims.
- Shaping and influencing public policy for the benefit of its members and their clients.
- Encouraging a greater degree of mutual understanding between defendant practitioners and the markets they serve.
- Championing its members interests within the regulatory and governance frameworks under which they operate.
This will be achieved through:
EDUCATION: Distributing regular briefings and updates on legal and insurance market developments; developing and implementing specialist training programmes; providing access to relevant knowledge resources.
COLLABORATION: Members working together on a non-competitive basis to help to solve a broad range of insurance law specific issues; partnering with clients and other trade bodies and membership organisations to pursue areas of common interest.
MARKET ENGAGEMENT: Lobbying relevant policy makers, legislative and regulatory bodies; representing members on appropriate advisory committees; actively promoting FOIL's collective position at every opportunity within the insurance, commercial and legal sectors, via the media and elsewhere.
REPRESENTATION: Ensuring that members' specific views and concerns are adequately represented in debates around potential changes to the regulatory and governance frameworks applying to them.
FOSTERING RELATIONSHIPS: Encouraging the two way flow of information and ideas between insurance law practitioners and the markets they serve; creating opportunities for networking between members, their clients and all other associated organisations and individuals.
