At the time of the FOIL Roundtable event on the new RTA portal service, held at Keogh’s London office on 16 October, a General Election was a possibility but had not yet been called. The chance of a government of a different persuasion before Christmas raises the possibility of a very different political agenda for 2020, and has increased the uncertainty around the whiplash reforms. The Civil Liability Bill was not backed by Labour or by the Lib Dems and there must be a risk that if either of those parties have control after the election that the reforms will be substantially amended or abandoned.
