The President's Charity 2016 is Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST)
The Jubilee Sailing Trust are a unique, UN accredited international charity with a mission to provide life changing experiences to people of all abilities, ages and backgrounds through the challenge and adventure of tall ship sailing. Over the last 35 years, we’ve welcomed over 45,000 crew members aboard our two globally unique, custom built tall ships with over half having some form of physical disability, including over 5,000 wheelchair users. Everybody, regardless of physical ability, can take part in our sail training adventure. Our three mast tall ships have lifts between decks, braille information, even a speaking compass at the helm for the visually impaired to steer the ship along with other such equipment that caters for all to take an active role in crewing the ship. We change lives by improving self-esteem, building confidence, and provide life skills by showcasing the power of diverse teams in a truly inclusive environment.
"Since 1978 the Jubilee Sailing Trust has been enabling men and women of all physical abilities, young and old, to pursue their dream of sailing a tall ship. Those who have sailed on the two JST tall ships have shown just what can be achieved in an accessible, inclusive and encouraging environment". HRH The Duke of York, KG, Jubilee Sailing Trust Patron.
